ATU would like to celebrate diversity in Iceland with six plays based on folklores, stories, tales of famous contemporary stories from around the world. This events will be organized and implemented by immigrant youth. Every other month a play will be shown in a suitable location around the city and the focus will be on a specific country or a region. The youth will manage the project and will involve other immigrant youth in preparing each show, giving them the chance to share their own favorite tails and folklores to Iceland.The aim of the project will be to work against racism and prejudice, to activate immigrant youth in social activities, to educate youth about cultural diversity, to develop solidarity and to promote tolerance. This project by ATU will start in the spring of 2013.To organize themselves and to advertise their events, ATU will primarily use its Facebook page.The site has proven to be a successful tool to draw in volunteers to participate in generating ideas, in planning and preparing for many events. Other media, i.e. flyers, posters, e-mails , will also be used to involve more young people.
