Allein ein Baum-gemeinsam ein Wald - Alone just a tree, a forest together
Start date: Oct 13, 2014, End date: Mar 27, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

42 young people from Germany, the Czech Republic and Morocco live and work together for two weeks in one place on the edge of Moroccan Sahara. Primarily, they deal with global problems through local action. In order to limit the desertification, young people plant trees in the Draa river valley in the south of Morocco in the vicinity of the Moroccan school grounds. Some students will also form a theater group with the following topic: "What can I do and what can we do to change something" or "Alone just a tree, a forest together". They will produce a play and it will be performed for the inhabitants of the area. Young people will have activities such as cooking for the project group, which is going to give them enough opportunities to talk about their lives and to acquire knowledge of their cultures and cuisine. All these experiences will be documented, along with photos, videos and texts. Thus, the results can be published on the internet. Participants shall practice the use of English as a foreign language and the exchange will make them aware of their new insights into the Moroccan and Berber rural society and its cultural and environmental issues. Their theoretical discussion about important issues such as climate change and their practical actions to prevent it is a part of holistic learning in many related areas. The acquired knowledge and skills will help the youth maintain sustainable future and boost their sense of responsibility.
