ALLE - Arbeiten, Lernen und Leben in Europa
Start date: Sep 15, 2016, End date: Sep 14, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

Title: Working, learning and living in EuropeParties involved: Participants (trainees to be management assistants in freight forwarding, industrial business management assistants, office administrators, automobile salesperson and retail sales person), their training companies, applicant organization – the Jakob-Friedrich-Schöllkopf-School, our partner organization – the ADC College London and selected companies in Greater London. Duration of the project: September 2016 – July 2018Time of placement: May/June 2017, May/June 2018 (combination of working in companies and language course)Summary:Kirchheim unter Teck is situated in an area with many small and medium-sized companies which often operate as European enterprises. Therefore it is crucial that these companies have employees being able to act in an intercultural appropriate way and at the same having the much needed special skills and knowledge of their profession. On these grounds the aim of the Jakob-Friedrich-Schöllkopf-School is to prepare the students in the best way for the challenges they have to face in their future working life. By working in competitive markets it is necessary that students do not only enlarge their expertise, their social and personal skills but also to develop the ability to act as active European citizens. In order to reach those goals the Jakob-Friedrich-Schöllkopf-School would like to give 30 students (15 participants in each year) in the following two years the chance to take part in the proposed project. The aim of the project is to give selected students in their second year of training the possibility to work, learn and live for three weeks in one of the largest metropolis in Europe, more precisely, in London. All our students are based in Greater London and will do their placement in selected companies in the area of trade, office work, management and retail. The participants will stay in host families provided by the partner organization. During the first week out of the three the participants receive language lessons and an introductory course including organizational or cultural aspects e.g. how to behave in a foreign environment, in daily life as well as in business situations. This is provided by the ADC College London. Additionally, in the following two weeks the trainees gain practical experience in selected British companies in London. In terms of quality management it is crucial for a successful work experience in a foreign country to tackle the needs of the participants in the run up and to prepare them in preparatory meetings for their stay abroad. Therefore the participants are supported in several ways, e.g. including the awareness and improvement of their cultural, language, social, personal and task-related competences. During their stay in London the participants will be monitored, accompanied and supported by a member of staff of the ADC College and teachers of the Jakob-Friedrich-Schöllkopf-School. After being back home the participants present their experience, impressions and their newly acquired skills and competences at school and at other selected events to other students, teachers and their companies as well as to other stakeholders and representatives involved in education and the local press. Hence by participating in this project the students become valuable employees for companies doing business within Europe. Besides the participants broaden their horizon, their professional way of acting and improve their language skills and thereby lay the foundation of a successful future. The participants’ newly acquired knowledge, skills and competences will be documented in the Europass. In addition the ultimate outcome of the project is not only to expand and ensure our quality in vocational education but also to contribute to the learning process and skills of our students in an intercultural and European way.
