All Different, All Equal
Start date: Feb 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

All Different, All equal By including the volunteer in the local environment we help him/her to overcome and tolerate cultural differences. The volunteer learns to accept diversity and people from different cultural and social backgrounds. All Different, All Equal helps the volunteer to understand the importance of equality in today?s society, by introducing him to new cultures and various people participating in the project. And how will the volunteer achieve all that? By overcoming language differences, working in teams, meeting and working with different people participating in the project. At the end of the project the volunteer will become more aware, tolerant and understanding individual, who will feel accepted and equal in any society and will accept his own diversity with a positive attitude. We need one volunteer for this project. It is recommendable that he/she has experience in organizing various activities, we also expect the volunteer to take over initiative, be disciplined, dynamic, ambitious, flexible and responsible at work. It is important that he/she is open-minded and tolerates diversity. The volunteer will be an assistant in the administration of the organization, where he/she will work on the computer with Microsoft Office. He/she will learn the basics of administration work and data processing. Basic knowledge of English language is required. The volunteer will work mainly on the program called SocialErasmus, which includes activities such as Meet The Native, ErasmusPets, Cultural Evenings, Polyglot Café and other charity events (collecting clothes and food for social disadvantaged people). At the activity ?Meet the Native? the volunteer will present his country, culture and language to children in Primary Schools and High Schools it the classes of geography, foreign language and cooking class. In this way he will interact with the local environment and encourage younger generations to take interest in other countries and cultures. At the activity ?ErasmusPets? the volunteer will organize visits to the local animal shelter to walk the dogs. The participants of this activity will be foreign students (exchange students) and together with the volunteer they will all contribute to the local community. The volunteer will learn the basics of organizing and leadership. Moreover, he will develop a sense of empathy for the abandoned animals. At the activity ?CulturalEvenings? the volunteer will have to be responsible, because it demands high level of organizing skills and good communication with the foreign students. The goal of the project is similar to the activity ?Meet The Native?, with the difference that presentations are for local and foreign students of Maribor. Polyglot Café is an activity, where foreign students learn or teach different languages in the informal environment. The volunteer will have the chance to try himself/herself as the teacher of his/her mother language, and at the same time he/she will refresh or gain knowledge of foreign languages. Another activity which the volunteer will coordinate is ErasmusSports, where he/she will organize and lead various sport activities as football, volleyball, handball, badminton, skiing? By participating in this activity he/she will take care of his well-being and health, as well as promote the importance of a healthy and active life. ErasmusTrips is an activity in which the volunteer will gain experience as an organizer and a leader. Next to that he/she will expand his/her horizons by visiting different places in Slovenia and neighboring countries. The volunteer work will not substitute the work of an employee.
