Ali and Nino - A Caucasian Perspective to Gender E
Start date: Dec 1, 2013,

Base on the novel “Ali and Nino – A love story” written by Kurban Said the project will look at traditional and modern gender roles in Europe and the Caucasus to raise awareness for different perceptions of man and woman and their roles in past and present European societies. Young people from eight countries will share their own understanding of gender equality and their experiences of gender based discrimination and violence in order to debate, discuss and elaborate on how gender equality can be built by each and every one of us in our closest social environment and how we can help combatting forms of gender discrimination.By means of non-formal education and creative forms of expression (social theatre, photography and video) the project aims to foster young people`s reflection on gender discrimination specifically in daily life and to create visual materials to be shared with their peers at home after the youth exchange. The concrete objectives are as follows:- To provide a safe and trustful atmosphere for young people to discuss and debate gender roles in their societies- To foster gender sensitiveness and awareness about daily forms of gender discrimination in our lives- To reflect on our own attitude and behaviour in daily life in regards to gender equality- To express our ideas on a gender equal society using arts and share them with our peersThe project will be organized for 32 young people from Armenia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Poland, Malta and Belgium. The Academy for Peace and Development will coordinate and host the project in Kobuleti, Georgia, from 01-11 May 2014.
