Aktywni lokalnie – cykl spotkań z decydentami
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Feb 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The "Aktywni lokalnie – cykl spotkań z decydentami"; was a series of eleven two-days long activities including youth meeting with the representatives of local, regional or national authorities. The action was attended by 308 people from eleven provinces in Poland (lubuskie, podlaskie, mazowieckie, lubelskie, świętokrzyskie, podkarpackie, wielkopolskie, łódzkie, śląskie, wielkopolskie, opolskie). We have included high school students, university students and representatives of organizations for young people in rural areas all over the country. Target group of the project was inhabitants of rural and semi-urban areas who experience exclusion of young people from the political decision-making process. The inspiration for this project was the need to change perception of politics as a community of people involved in the unclear rules, while bypass the public mission. Aim of the project was to increase knowledge and stimulate a debate on measures on the role of the public consultations in rural and local regional partnerships between authorities, NGO and business. There is a lack of mechanisms which support youth activities in the political, social and public participation and decision making. We wanted to start discussion about political participation presenting the greatest barriers wchich young people face in political life, ways to reduce them and to start confrontation with local authorities. We wanted to ensure that the voice of the young generation will become heard and young people from rural areas will be able to participate in the process of policy decission making. Implementation of the project took the form of discussion, both youth and representatives of local authorities. Moreover, participants took part in workshops, during which they I created a list of ideas that can help to increase the involvement of young people and a list of obstacles which hinder or discourage young people. As a result of the project young people became more active to participate on political decision-making. The project increased their creativity and ability to indicate the appropriate measures to interease young for their own community. We wanted to initiate debate between young people about ability to influence the decisions taken at the local and regional level. The topics that were addressed during the meetings increased interest in supporting political activities by youth. Policy makers got the chance to confront with the people for whom they policy form. This was a great opportunity to compare the power of ideas and views with the youth opinion.
