The elementary school in Gelnica is the largest school in a district and the only elementary school in town. In the current school year 2014 to 2015 the school consists of 31 classes with 524 students divided into 0- 9 grades. Teachers and the employees of the school are actively participating in number of available projects in effort to continuously improve their educational skills. Our school participated and successfully implemented the ideas behind a project named -Modern and fun study is “in” aimed at rising the quality of education provided and extended use of informational technologies. Our school’s long term strategy is to be one of the most modern, participating and open institutions. We strive to provide the best possible grounds for our students to continue their education in their future years in secondary schools of all fields, as well as their full and quality integration into a modern European society. The high quality education we set to provide is only possible through qualified teaching staff. We continue to encourage our teachers to educate themselves throughout their professional lives and we actively provide help with their professional and educational growth. The aim of our project “Actively and innovatively “ is to improve the teaching of foreign languages while implement new ways of highly effective as well as interesting forms of education. Two teachers who teach English Language in grades 0-4 of the elementary school will take part in Mobilities. The professional course will provide them with ways to improve their communicational and didactic skills. They will become familiar with new educational methods, new forms and strategies as well as improving ways of using informational technologies for the language study. They will gain new international contacts for the future cooperation and partnerships. Following they will be given the opportunity to extend their new gained knowledge and professional expertise to their fellow teaching colleagues. The Results of the project tested in field will be implemented into the daily curriculum of our school. The positive results and experiences will be then through various school activities introduced to parents of students as well as press and web. We strongly believe that the final result of our efforts will be providing education in a very creative working environment with successful and motivated teacher as well as students.
