AKS - Development of Methodology and Systems for Validation of Accumulated Knowledge and Skills (AKS)

Aware of the increasing turnover and mobility (both professional and trans-frontier) of personnel in the electro-technical industry, AKS aims to develop a pan-European method and a tool for the assessment of accumulated knowledge and skills of existing and new employees, specifically electricians. This will serve as a basis for personal development plans and assist enterprises in keeping stock of their human resources. The 2 main products will be: a procedure for enterprises to introduce and apply this new assessment tool and to collate results at organisational level and an individual documentation tool or 'Euro-CV' consisting of personal characteristics & qualifications and professional & general skills. Both will be accompanied by a handbook in paper and electronic versions, initially in English and later translated into individual partner languages.A single transnational product will be developed through four stages of gradual refinement, through mutual commentary, through piloting in companies, through mutual evaluation of pilot results (at both individual and company level) and through involvement of professional bodies (in order to validate both method and tool).A web site will be created upon which the final version of the tool and supporting documentation will be available free of charge and each partner will further publicise the products through professional, educational and immigration policy networks. The new method and tool aim to facilitate assessment of the level of competence of foreign workers. A final conference will be held to promote potential transferability of the tool to other industry or business sectors.
