The project ''Affirmative Leraning“ will be coordinated by Fifth Gymnasium, Zagreb, in collaboration with the partner schools, the High school Lava, School centre of Celje, Slovenia and Deutschhaus-Gymnasium, Würzburg, Germany which are among the most successful and reputable schools in their countries. The advantage of cooperation with those schools lies in the fact that certain approaches and practices could yield analogous and transferable results. Based on the administered SWOT analysis, Fifth Gymnasium, Zagreb has identified its weaknesses and its strengths and has adjusted accordingly the priorities within the project plan: • cater for the needs of the participants in order to reach high levels of quality • encourage professional development • establish professional status of Fifth Gymnasium on both local and regional levels. The aims of the project are the following: • professional development of school's personnel (professional, pedagogical, didactical, organizational and other competencies) • transfer of innovative educational practices of the partner school throughout activites and for further development • quality improvement of Fifth Gymnasium • encouraging the development of and adherence to the european dimension through international cooperation. The strategies and the methodology employed in reaching our aims will tend to be innovational ranging from preparing the participants, devising individualized programmes of ''job shadowing'' and applying the ''benchmarking'' approach in transfer of examples of good and innovative educational practices in the partner schools as well as foster active involvment of the participants in preordained teams. Throughout the ten cycles of mobility 20 individualized programes of mobility in duration of five weekdays each will be completed. Each participant will be assigned a mentor in the partner school (corresponding professional profile) who will be monitoring the course of the mentee's professional development programme. The profile requirements of the participants of the professional development program are: • teachers of theoretical courses • heads of teachers associations • members of the school's Team for quality • school's personnel The project anticipates the following: • developing school's personnel professional, pedagogical, didactical and organizational competencies • establishing new international partnerships and empowering the european dimension within the school • organizing 20 one-week programes of mobilty in the partner school • administering 20 individualized programes of professional development (job shadowing) in duration of five weekdays throughout the ten cycles of mobility ( two participants per cycle) • assigning 20 Europass Mobility certificates for the participants to testify to the acquired competencies • analyses of a minimum of six examples of good innovative educational practices in the partner school • comparison of a minimum of six different teaching programs • publishing a minimum of five scientific articles /extended summaries regarding the results and activities employed in the project Based on the active encouragement of developing professional competencies of the participants and stimulating transfer of innovative educational practices the project expectations are: • quality improvement in Fifth Gymnasium • encouragement of the european dimension in the school • professional development of other schools both locally and internationally • increasing the level of satisfaction with the school on the part of the teachers, students, parents.. The project is planned to begin in September2014 and end in September 2016.
