"Active volunteer for children's benefits"
Start date: Jul 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The EVS project "Active volunteer for children's benefits" will involve 1 Lithuanian volunteer for a 12 months voluntary service at the Samara Waldorf Kindergarten in Samara, a 1,5 million city in the south-east of the central part of Russia. The Waldorf Kindergarten of Samara is part of a huge worldwide network of schools, based on the method developed by Rudolf Stainer. The volunteers in the first place has to be motivated to get to know another way of life and to put him or herself in a new social and cultural situation in order to try to understand other ways of living. And of course s/he should have the strong wish to work with children. The volunteer will be involved in the innovative pedagogical activities carried on by the kindergarten, such as playing games, toy-making, reading, painting, music, modelling and theatre, and there will be also space for the development of volunteers’ personal projects. The Samara Waldorf Kindergarden organizes different celebrations around Russian cultural traditions and customs. Festivals are always social events: organising and running festivals unites children, parents, teachers and are a great chance to integrate and meet the EVS volunteer. Working towards the same goal, adults and children find many possibilities for communication and interaction. The organization Lastochki, part of the international network ICYE, will closely follow the volunteers learning process, by helping them to keep track of their experience, by taking care of their practical and logistical needs, and by helping them to act as “European Ambassadors” for the local community.
