Active cross-border cooperation for the treatment of feminine infertility (ACTIF)
Start date: Jan 31, 2012, End date: Jan 30, 2013 PROJECT  FINISHED

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment of infertility by facilitating cross-border exchange of professional know-how. Endoscopic procedures are currently indispensable in diagnosing and treating infertility, which is an increasingly common problem in Csongrád (HU) and Timiş (RO) counties. As part of the project, workshops and surgical demonstrations are organized first in Timisoara at the “Dr. D. Popescu” Clinical Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and then in Szeged at the Faculty of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department with the participation of a joint team of experts. Thus the medical personnel of both hospitals acquire a solid base of knowledge that can be put to use for the benefit of infertile patients. In order to assure the necessary conditions for the workshops and demonstrations, both hospitals need to renew their endoscopic equipment, which could then be used for the benefit of the region’s population. The general objective of the project is joint development of human resources in the field of healthcare through cross-border cooperation between institutions. The direct beneficiaries of the project are 40 members of the medical personnel (20 from the University of Szeged, Faculty of Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department and 20 from the “Dr. D. Popescu” Clinical Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Timişoara), who will participate in the workshops and exchange of experience; the two medical institutions; at least 20 patients who will be treated for infertility by the joint team (Hungarian and Romanian) experts. The main specific activities of the project are the purchase of equipments and subcontracting services and training program.Among project results: jointly trained medical personnel, 1 joint webpage, 17 medical equipment purchased.
