AMISTAD (Activating Multicultural Interrelations to Strengthen Togetherness Among people with Different cultures) is an EVS project coordinated by InCo with the participation of 4 volunteers from 4 different countries (Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg and Armenia). Volunteers will be involved in the activities of 3 Receiving Organizations located in Bolzano to promote the positive aspects of living in a multilingual and multicultural region as well as intergenerational dialogue through the exchange of personal experiences of the youths and elderlies of the ROs concerning and favoring the living in a trilingual province. The 3 Receiving Organizations – different from many organizations in South Tyrol - have users from German, Ladin and Italian lingual communities: >ASSB rest home activities are oriented toward elderlies to support them daily and offer them through recreational activities a friendly atmosphere >VKE activities are oriented toward children and teenagers to promote the right of children to play >YoungCaritas targets young people aged between 6 and 30 to raise young people’s interest in social work, encouraging to act according to social responsibility and in solidarity with people in need Volunteers will not only support regular activities suggesting own ideas but they will also be involved in parallel initiatives “Eyes and ears for multiculturalism”, title suggested by volunteers. These parallel initiative foresees the organization of different meetings between and activities with users of the ROs, youths and elderlies from the different lingual communities, to encourage them as well as their receiving community to better know the culture of each community and maybe to weave some friendship links. Thus, peer-to-peer contact will be stimulated, boosting not only socialization, the learning outcomes but also volunteers' spirit of initiative. All actors involved in the project AMISTAD should benefit from its effect. First of all, EVS volunteers will live a non-formal education experience that should be enriching both from a personal and professional point of view. Volunteers will be supported in their learning path by all partners who have already agreed on methods and roles. Receiving Organization will benefit from the motivation and new energy of the volunteers. Each partner thanks to the network created with AMISTAD can improve its services and activities ensuring greater impact. Finally, AMISTAD is expected to improve the empowerment of the users of the Receiving Organizations giving them the opportunity of being protagonist through storytelling and the possibility of meeting youths of different cultures.
