Acquisition of social skills and competences of youngsters for future implementation in society
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project’s target is to advocate an active European citizenship and acquisition of skills and competences of youngsters for future implementation in the society. By this international mobility the aim is to support the awareness of different countries, understanding and embracing new cultures. The volunteers by taking part in the project will have the opportunity to witness and experience the way of life in a different EU country, interfere in a multicultural society, learn how to be tolerant to a different and multiple attitude-mindsets, and how to accept a different cultural diversity. Depending on the work-field in the hosting organization the volunteers obtain many skills and working experience. They will learn to be more independent and confident by living and working in a foreign country. All these elements along with learning a new foreign language enforce the opportunity for future plans. It is known that many volunteers can’t find jobs or are in the beginning of their career. Through their activities in this non-formal learning process along with our assistance and guidance (meetings with supervision and additional seminars) they can be more successful in the labour market. Many young people are implicated in our project from different EU countries. In this project “Acquisition of social skills and competences of youngsters for future implementation in society” program DOBRO plans to coordinate 11 volunteers from different 8 European countries: Germany, Italy, Hungary, Greece, Slovenia, Ireland and Ukraine who will be placed in 7 different hosting organizations. Two volunteers are in Zilina and nine in Bratislava in various working placements. The placements are dealing with mentally disabled, kids, youth and elderly. Many people are involved in the project DOBRO. The volunteers, workers and clients in the hosting organisations, mentors... The impact of the project can be seen on all of them. The volunteers influence also other people. Besides their working activities at the placements the volunteers usually join some local groups where they meet young people from Slovakia. The volunteers are determined and open to the challenge of spending almost one year in Slovakia, eager to learn give and receive. We have experienced in the past that volunteers love to meet new people besides the other volunteers and often join local groups and mingle with the local society. Also they love to travel, cross Slovakia and other European countries (especially CE) and during these travels they meet more people. There is no better way to make the project more visible recognizable and comprehensive. Past volunteers play also an important role in making EVS known and through them more and younger people express their desire to be involved in Erasmus+ Program.
