Accéder à la culture européenne grâce à la danse traditionnelle
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Louis Forton primary school is in a small town with many pupils from the surrounding rural area. It is a culturally ans socialy deprived area. The children don't have much opportunity to experience other cultures. Many of them have difficulties at school, particulary in modern languages. They don't realize the importance of learning a foreign language. The teaching staff have decided to develop a mobility project to improve the language results of their pupils. The innovative teaching methods that actively involve the pupils in the project will help them understand and progress in learning the language. The interdisciplinary methods and cooperation with other Europeans countries will give the school a European cultural dimension, it is lacking. The theme of the project is the production by the pupils of a traditional Irish music and dance show.Mrs Marie-Laure Gallet, the CM2 teacher has been selected for this project. She 's head of modern languages at the school. Mrs Gallet is used to travelling abroad, she's highly motivated and will shave her experiences and competences learnt during the project with her collegues. The first stage of the project will be to search on the eTwinning site for an Irish school in Dublin which will become our partner. The pupils will communicate by email about traditional music and dance. They'll also start to learn Irish songs. The second stage, Mrs Gallet will have language lessons given by the association SILC to improve her level. During this period, she'll visit the school in Dublin and go to dance lessons, collect information, documents and anything useful for the end-of-year show. After the mobility activity, Mrs Gallet, the teaching staff and pupils will work on the show (learning songs and dances, making decorations ans costumes). They'll also hold an exhibition on Irish culture. The show will be performed at the end of the year fête and in an artistic festival with other schools. The results envisaged by taking part in this project are : - the improvement of the language competences for the participant and the pupils- the improvement of teaching methods in English- a better knowledge of the culture of another countryCarrying out this project will also allow our school to improve its teaching methods, make it more dynamic on a European level, enabling us to put in place future projects with other partners and countries.
