Abriéndonos a Europa: creando un centro bilingüe de calidad.
Start date: Dec 23, 2015, End date: Dec 22, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our centre is a government-subsidised private school composed of three stages, Pre-school, Primary and Secondary education, with two lines each. Linguistic competence has been developed as an area for improvement for many years, and it has been reinforced from the department of bilingualism where the possibility of international openness is being promoted. It is in this academic year,2014.15, that we have been named bilingual centre by the Junta de Andalucia, although we have a commission of bilingualism from 2010-2011 and this group has been encouraging and taking initiatives to promote bilingualism in the center from the beginning. The teachers involved in this programme are the members of the commission of bilingualism. They have an adequate level in foreign languages but they lack the B2 and C1 titles which are required and need methodological training to teach those subjects in English or they need methodological training to teach these subjects. As a result, among those teachers, interested in this formation, the Management Team will select representatives from each stage to give a better coverage which will facilitate the dissemination. These teachers involved in the programme must commit to communicate the experience upon return and be of service to the institution. Teacher training will be the key to promote language skills. In this academic year we started integrating bilingualism in Pre-school ans in the first year in Primary school. However we want to ensure the realization of this project in an efficient and quality way, so we need the continuing education of teachers, not only in terms of language skills but to get a wide range of resources and innovative methodologies to connect with reality and other European communities. Students with special educational needs will be an important part in which our actions will be focused. English Matters offers a wide variety of training activities that can meet our training needs programme; they will monitor, supervise and evaluate the participation and involvement of teachers during the training period and will make a monitor the dissemination of learning outcomes after training. Our center will be responsible for helping staff to implement the planned tasks for preparation for training and dissemination of learning outcomes to students, the educational community and the professional community by organizing specific sessions. The chosen courses are: - ACTIVATE your ENGLISH for Teaching (B1+, B2) - ENGLISH AND METHODOLOGY in England: A 21st Century Approach for English Teachers - CLIL IN DUBLIN: Content and Language Integrated Learning - Structured Study Visit to Schools/Institutes & Training Seminar in FINLAND We believe this project is a great opportunity to grow personally and professionally, enabling our faculty to be creative and motivated, thus becoming a centre of reference in our surroundings. Participation in this program will mean a change of attitude in our institution, with more optimistic expectations towards learning a second language as the promotion of the European dimension by the entire educational community. The expected impact will be directly proportional to the quantity and quality of teaching methods and innovation that can be acchieved at the destination. We will have a broader vision on European culture, English levels will be improved thanks to the linguistic immersion period, new tools and working methods to implement in the classroom will be obtained and it will provide a reflection on our way of teaching. This action will benefit the entire educational community, the institution, and surrounding centers. With this project we want to become a bilingual center of excellence and reference in our area.
