Abriendo las puertas a Europa: El IES Al-Qázeres en el mapa
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Opening the Doors to Europe: Al-Qázeres High School on the Map” is a project framed in Key Action 101, within the Erasmus+ framework programme. This project belongs to Al-Qázeres High School (Cáceres, Extremadura, SPAIN) which, according to the Educational Authorities, is located in a working-class environment, with families belonging to a medium-low socioeconomic level, according to the ISEC Report. Therefore, this project aims at a double objective:On the one hand, “Opening the Doors to Europe” responds to a necessity the school has found in order to increase the presence of the European Dimension of Education within our lessons. One of the aims for the European Strategy 2020 is the training for the European conscience. Thus, one of our top priorities is to provide education able to generate competent European civilians. On the other hand, “Al-Qázeres High School on the Map” is in relation with what has been established above because, if Europe is part of our educational reality, we shouldn’t forget we are members of Europe; so the door opening should promote fluctuations between both directions. Therefore, through the improvement on the quality of our projects, we’ll be able to situate ourselves onto the European map in order to offer Europe what Europe offers to us.This project is open to our entire educational community, although only 11 teachers (one of them from the Counselling Department and another one of them belonging to the Administration Team) and 1 member of our non-teaching staff. Each mobility formative activity implies a determined professional profile and a series of settlements each candidate should compromise to fulfill. Our mobility activities proposed are framed within the training and the observation of good educational practices, done through partners whose quality has been demonstrated through their participation in other European initiatives. These activities will take place during 24 months.Among the results and the foreseen impact on the participants, the school and its area of influence, the following can be mentioned:-Improvement on the competence to manage quality projects, whether European or not, on the side of the school staff.-Improvement on our dissemination and sustainability plans, whether for European projects or not, on the side of the school staff.-Creation of a “European teamwork” competent enough to deliver quality European Educational Projects.-Improvement on the methodological competences on the side of the school staff, which will impact on the qualifications rise on the students’ side.-Decrease in the early school dropout rate, which will imply better training opportunities and more possibilities to access quality jobs.-Possibility to be located onto the European map, increasing links among both public and private institutions, catering for a direct communication between equals.-For the Educational Administration, the possibility to count with a group of competent teachers able to train other teachers from adjacent schools, improving the communication links between schools framed within the same socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds; teachers who can deliver quality presentations. For all which has been established before, this project will allow Al-Qázeres High School to develop their first two phases of our European Development Plan, so that we can establish one or more Strategic Partnership framed within KA-2 with quality and sustainable projects.
