Abriendo horizontes en la FP
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context We are a public secondary and VET school with students from middle and lower middle-class backgrounds who have trouble finding jobs and have few international opportunities because of their lack of foreign language skills. This happens in a city whose main economic activity comes from tourism, having received more than 1,200,000 tourists in its province in 2013. Objectives • Learn about French education system, specially VET Nurse Assistant, and exchange experience. • Study about further collaboration with school. • Improve teachers’ language skills. • Initiate international activities with our students. Number and profile of participants 3 teachers with the following profiles participated in: VET teacher, who each have a A2 French level or B1 English level, with good knowledge of VET studies for Nurse Assistants and its legislation, motivated by internationalization and with interest for further collaboration with the French school. Methodology used: A committee selected candidates via a public announcement, evaluating how well they fit the desired profile, their language skills, their experience, and a personal project. The person responsible for managing the mobility and its practical details, as well as mobility agreements (exchanges) with partner schools and participants, was the Erasmus+ coordinator. Before the visit took place, linguistic and cultural preparation was provided but in French instead of the work language, English, because we noticed there were no many teachers at Lycée Beau de Rochas with a good English level and we prefer that our teachers could relate with a minimum courtesy. The french school provided us a person who translated Spanish/French. Also, the school web site was analyzed as well as the documents provided by Mme. Esmiol, contact person at the french school. During the exchanges, the contact person at the school was Dña. Cristina Brioso, deputy Head. When the exchanges were completed, the Erasmus+ coordination oversaw the documentation generated and developed the organization of outreach activities. Brief description of the results, impact and long-term results In participants: increased professional skills, language skills, and contact with French teachers. In colleagues: increased motivation to internationalize, knowledge of methodological tools and other educational systems, and participation with the contacts made. For students: a more innovative learning approach to French and English, possibilities of contact with French students, increased motivation to internationalize and possibility for 4 of them to do an internship at local hospitals. In the school: improved internationalization and an increase in its general appeal, an improved workplace atmosphere and an increase in overall satisfaction, possibilities for addressing bilingual education, and to start a partnerships with French institution and Health local companies. Diffusion: At local and regional level, by means of the school’s collegial meetings and workshops with interested staff. At the provincial and regional level, we have offered our collaboration to the Seville teacher center to intervene in meetings that advertize the Erasmus+ program and through the school newspaper "Diario Amate". At the national level, through our availability to the National Agency. At the international level, we have created the web site "Erasmussantaaurelia.es", where there are publications about Lycée Beau de Rochas and the French national health system, as well as the facebook profile Erasmussantaaurelia, with different publications. Currently we are starting the new project "Un paso más" where we continue our relationships with the French institutions and star news with a school in Glasgow and another in Jesenice. This project will be the first Erasmus+ experience for 4 teachers of our staff.
