Abriendo fronteras hacia una comunidad de aprendizaje a través de las lenguas y de las nuevas tecnologías.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our Project arises from the necessity to lead our students and teachers towards a larger and more internationalized world where everyone can enjoy the same opportunities to fight social exclusion due to the lack of information or personal motivation that many of our students suffer. In a school such as IES Santiago Rusiñol, located in a town where bilingual education is the main educational pattern in primary schools. The implementation of new technologies in the classrooms is increasingly gaining ground in every single school, it is absolutely essential to encourage foreign language learning , especially English and to acquire enough skills to take advantage of an increasing global and digitalized world. Although we are a young school, we have been supporting foreign language learning, promoting cultural and language immersion trips to the British Isles. In addition, we have been participating in several Comenius projects, two of them with other five schools from abroad and in a Comenius Regio with Poland. We are absolutely convinced of the importance of providing our students with the right means to get to know other young students from abroad in their real context enhancing exchanges with France and Germany. The purpose of this, is to motivate them to learn from the other students and share knowledge, making them participate in a new reality more varied and enriching, Europe. We have the moral obligation to save guard the integration of our students in a more cosmopolitan world so that they all have the same opportunities in order to reduce social gradient for economical or cultural reasons. That is the reason why seven teachers from a different educational background and skills have decided to take part in this Project and build the first leading team to become a reference of working system for our students. Teachers from different Departments such as : Physical Education, Mathematics, Spanish, Technology, English or Physics and Chemistry will create a working group that will take up an experience planned to last in the future. The key actions that we planned to carry out this project are, learning in different training courses either to improve English language skills or acquire skills concerning new CLIL methodology as well as getting in touch with new digital resources and income. Teachers must show their students new ways of learning, working in teams and on projects, promoting interpersonal communication between teacher and student aiming at making our youth come familiar with this new communication learning tools that allow them to broaden their opportunities in both fields , education and work through the acquisition of foreign language and technological knowledge. On the other hand, we are completely sure that to reduce the school absenteeism rate is closely connected to a higher motivation and the use of more inclusive and interactive methodologies. The job-shadowing mobility will provide the teachers from both schools with a face to face experience which will allow a cultural exchange, knowledge about organization and operating of a new methodology as well as different management tools at school. The management staff with English language skills will attend this visit so as to get to know their everyday working system. We must take into account that this mobility will provide the leading staff with a great source of knowledge. This key actions will be developed along a year and must improve teaching quality with the involvement of all the participants who will meet regularly to assess the different ways to make this experience be part of the school curriculum and consequently have an impact on the students. Teachers´ quality education is an added value itself for the school, the outcome will be disseminated in different school forums to enhance more teachers and promote another view of cooperative work in the European schools. By working this way we expect to enrich the students education and become a reference as participants in a lifelong learning activity, learning which certainly is the result of their teacher´s education. It is an urgent need for our students to become active agents in a global world where decisions are made and everyone’s benefit is a must. Our last goal is to go on working in key actions KA1 and KA2 in a near future with the other schools we have in our Comenius project so as to promote this way of working in our school.
