PROJECT
FINISHED
The Project “PBL, PROJECTING FUTURE” takes place in a Public Primary School that hosts a Compensatory Education Program. This centre shows an important lack of resources and deficiencies. In this sense, several measures have been adopted in order to improve the quality and the results of the school’s student body. Thus, different action lines have been established around the use of experimental sciences didactics, the use of Communication and Information Technologies (CIT), as the basis of teaching (e-learning), the internationalization of the centre and the communicative teaching of languages. These four action lines have as core idea the use of innovative methodologies as the Problem-based Learning (PBL). For that reason, we apply for training activities inside the Mobility and Collaboration European Framework. These activities will allow us to be aware of innovative teaching experiences from schools with the highest records in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) and international recognition, such as the Finnish education system.
The profile of the teachers that apply for the training activities fits to the detected needs in the diagnosis stage of the project. To ensure the continuity of the project all the participants involved are permanent stuff of the centre and they have, at least, the qualification of Independent User Intermediate (B1) of the English language of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Each teacher will supervise one different aspect of the project, and each one will perform coordinating tasks inside the centre and in the educational level that belongs to. This strategy will allow to achieve the project objectives in an integrated manner, as well as to make real the start up of the project in the whole centre.
After the training activities, the centre will organize in the 2014/2015 academic course three workgroups (one for each educational course). Each workgroup will be advised by the teacher specialized in each aspect of the project: a teacher specialist in the internationalization of the centre and gender equality policies; two teachers specialists in e-learning and the use of Communication and Information Technologies (CIT); and a teacher specialist in the experimental sciences didactics.
To perform innovative practices in the centre will favor a quality teaching on a student body that comes from clearly disadvantaged environments with needs of teaching methodologies specifically focus on the continuity and the success of the compulsory educational system. Our project has as a final objective highly related with the vocational orientation and the labor world, so the measures designed are aimed to achieve a lesser school failure and neglect and high school performance.
Diffusion activities will be addressed in particular to the faculty of the centre mentioned, as well as to the faculty of other Primary Schools of the locality, by means of their participation in different workgroups (intra- and inter-centre), as well as to their involvement in several educational experiences: 1) Experience “SCIENCE IS IN THE CARDS" addressed to bring the student body closer to the work of scientists that have showed a collaborating interest with the centre, writing motivational and inspiring letters to the student body towards science and technology studies; 2) Experience “STANDING ON THE SHOULDERS OF GIANTS” addressed to realize didactic experiences using the PBL methodology learned in the training activities stage and related to the research fields of scientists internationally recognized; 3) Experience “PBL IN INTERACTIVE GROUPS” addressed to the student body of the Faculty of Education and Pedagogy of the University of Granada that will participate in the centre through an agreement with the University of Granada.
Different evaluation systems, both quantitative and qualitative evaluation systems, will be carried out in order to ratify the achievement of the project objectives and results.
