Six employees at Molde voksenopplæringssenter (MOVO) will implement Job Shadowing at three different Adult education institutions in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Each Job Shadowing will have duration of five working days. The aim of the Job Shadow is to observe and learn from how our Nordic colleagues who are working in the field of language training and labour market, allowing MOVO to develop their own practice in the field.Immigrants need to learn Norwegian to be connected to the labour market and become economically independent. At the same time, they need work experience to compete in the labour market, and to build networks. It is therefore important to consider tuition and practice of the labour market in context. Career guidance is focused on the labour market and to provide participants with training that is useful for finding employment. Curriculum in Norwegian and social studies for adult immigrants can take place entirely or partly on an internship or at the participant's workplace, both inside and outside the introduction program and full time or part time. Studies show that systematic language instruction related to a workplace works well but that it depends on the participants receiving systematic follow-up of a Norwegian teacher.MOVO has since 2013 been working systematically field school - labour with a focus on basic skills and language practice in various places of employment. Today it is mostly a group of participants on track 1 receiving this offer by MOVO. The school plans to extend this offer to participant both on tracks 2 and 3. In this context, we see that it would be very important for further development of our training programs, and learn how this is organized in other Nordic countries, similar to our own school system.
