A World of Tales

We are a group of rural and near the big city Primary and Secondary Schools from different countries where there are students from different cultures and customs.The language chosen was English.In our project we intended to improve the standard skill of reading of our students, through knowledge and reading different stories,tales and legends from different continents.For this purpose some activities related to storytelling have carried out. They have been involved in all curriculum areas and new technologies.At the end of each school term and year, all countries organized exhibitions where both original works and photographs of children's work have been shown and have also shared through the Internet on a Comenius blog designed by the coordinating centre.The main final products are:1-digital book/final CD with the text summaries, drawings and audios of some tales from the 5th continents, worked by all countries.2-Exhibition on the web of the other 42 tales (with interactive activities) worked by the children. This partnership have increased for students:The competence in foreing and native language.ICT competence.Social and citizen competence.Knowledge and interaction with the social and physical enviroment.Interest to learn foreignlanguages.Motivation to learn.European citizenship awareness.Cultural awareness and expressionAmong the teachers,it has increased: The exchange of methodology and didactic materials.The use of foreign languages by the teacher of other areas.Professional self-confident. European citizenship awareness. The impact in the schools has helped to Improve their image and prestige,the coordination among different departments,the participation in other European programmes, the relationships,the collaboration among institutions of the educational and local community.The good results in the project have caused a sensation of well-being and success in all the people involved,which has favovored the general academic school success.
