A Step Forward

The Istituto Tcnico Commerciale Statale “Fabio Besta” is situated in Ragusa, in the South- East of Sicily. In the last few years, besides the classical economical sector, the Logistic and transportation sector has been added. The Economic sector has different branches: “Administration, finance and marketing” (AFM), Business information systems” (SIA), and the “International Marketing relations” (RIM). For this reason, it’s inferred how, despite of its suburban position, our Institute aims to the Syllabus quality and the internationalization of its training offer. From this point of view, the school staff has chosen, for the next two years, to present a Plan useful to start a substantial change on the methodology and on the contents of our training offer. In the oncoming of our candidacy applying, a survey among our school personnel has been carried out. The survey aims to know how many members of our staff are interested in participating to the training activities abroad. The teachers team has established the criteria to select the teachers. The language teachers will participate to courses based on new methodological approaches and on the enhancing of language competences, held by foreign school. Teachers of technical and vocational subjects, will attend to language courses. The aim is to obtain a language certification (B2 level or more). The chosen teachers have a level between A2 and B1; they teach in different courses and in the fifth year classes. Priority has been given to curricular teachers rather than teacher labs assistants. Concerning the no-teaching staff members, two member of the logistic and transportation sector and two members of the administrative sector have been chosen. In the short period, our plan expects that each of the chosen members of our staff could participate to more than one course during the two years of the project. In this way they could enhance their crossing competences and their career brief. Moreover, we suppose to have an enhancement of our less motivated students’ performances as well as an improving of our best students. In the long period, the level of our school wil be enhanced by the presence of a group od teachers with a high career brief and with high linguistic and methodological competences. This will allow us to start the CLIL teaching in our last school year and it will be able to enhance our team updating. The enhancement of our career brief and of our Syllabus will contribute to improve our School evaluation and self-evaluation process; it will be a better appeal for our Stakeholders and, finally, our school will have a leading role in our territory .
