A New Proactive Training Programme For Work Safety in High Places

Altough the rate of height related accidents are quite high, there is no available occupational safety training for working at height. Preparation of a proactive education programme for occupational safety for working at height will meet this need. This planned education programme that will be prepared for energy sector and vocational institutions can also be used in dockyards and construction sector. This programme will contain occupational safety measures, methods, rules and applications with proactive approaches. During the preparation of the project the outcomes of the project “The Development of Occupational Health and Safety Training Programme”, promoted by Latvia will be used. Aims: Many of the accidents related to working at height can be avoided by adequate education. The main objective of our project is to bring down the rate of accidents related with working at height to the lowest point. Since working at height trainings are inadequate in our country developing educational materials, content and methods are private aims of our project. Objectives:To prepare education programme.To develop educational materials.To give theoretical training about working at height occupational safety through internet. The project will be completed in 24 months with the collaboration of 10 partners from Turkey, Latvia, Ireland and Germany. The partners are public, private and vocational institutions, universities, and a labour union. The partners and the representatives of the partners in the project are experienced in occupational safety. The products outcomes of the project will be a web site, an education programme consisted of a book and a DVD, internet education portals. For dissamination activities, a web site will be developed, magazine, brochures and posters will be prepared about the project. Magazine, a book and a DVD will be produced and posted to all target sectors, vocational institutions, trade associations and labour unions. Also the project will be promoted in the congress of national occupational health and safety in 2011 and 2012. Our following partners; TEIAS, the biggest public institution in energy sector; KAYA Construction Company, host of 2007 national occupational health and safety congress will have positive effects to dissamination activities. The expected results of the project will be seen in energy sector in the short term and in all other related sectors in the long term.
