The Königin- Fabiola- Haus is a part from "Behindertenstätten Eupen G.o.E", a house for disabled people in Eupen. Eupen is a small city (18.000 citizens) in the germanspoken community in Belgium. We are situated very close to the german and the dutch border.
Short description of the project :
In this residential home live about 18 persons with a handicap. They live in 2 groups and are supported by 17 educators.. By daytime the residents exert a "job" outside this house. A great deal of the task consist of the assistance and looking after of persons with a handicap. These are in general slower in their rhythm and we help them in eveyday and free- time occupations.
The volunteer can improve the quality of life of the handicapped people. This can be done in different ways, f.ex. walking, swimming, cinema or diffrent homework together with the disabled people: to cover the table, cooking, shopping,...
