A határonkívüli együttműködés felújítása és intenzívebbé tétele Pribeník és Lácacséke községek között / Obnova a zintenzívnenie cezhranicnej spolupráce medzi obcami Pribeník a Lácacséke (Lácacséke / Pribeník)
Start date: Nov 30, 2010, End date: Sep 29, 2011 PROJECT  FINISHED

The main objective of the project is to revive and intensify cross-border cooperation between the municipalities of Pribeník and Lácacséke as well as the neighbouring regions through the reconstruction of a common road that used to join the villages in the past. After the border crossing was closed down in 1952 the road became shabby and is used only by agricultural machinery. Currently, it is very difficult to access the area not only for the visitors to the region but also to its inhabitants. The nearest border crossing is 30 km away from both villages. The neighbourhood is seriously disadvantaged and ranks to the most backward parts of Slovakia and Hungary in terms of economy. This situation, in the long term, negatively influences the growth potential of both villages and is degrading the area since the young and productive citizens are fleeing the region to get decent jobs. They often leave for good. At the same time the bad connection significantly complicates the situation of the population (including the reduction of the mobility of labour force) with sustained family ties and practically no language barrier. The existing situation greatly limits the development of the region and opportunities for creation and implementation of joint projects not only among the municipalities but also among the businesses, civic associations, clubs and other entities. The implementation of the project is inevitable and vital not only for the two municipalities but also for the region. The project involves the reconstruction of the road in the length of 1,940.33 m and width of 6.5 m, which will permanently reopen the border crossing. The project will be beneficial to the public and it will result in dramatic intensification of cross-border cooperation in many fields; it will also make the region more attractive to investment inflow. Achievements: After the border crossing was closed down in 1952, the road became neglected and is used only by agricultural machinery. Currently, it is very difficult to access the area not only for visitors to the region but also for its inhabitants. The nearest border crossing point is 30 km away from both villages. This situation negatively influences the growth potential of both villages and is degrading the area since young and productive citizens are leaving the region to get decent jobs. The main objective of the project was to revive and intensify cross-border cooperation between the municipalities of Pribeník and Lácacséke as well as the neighbouring regions through the reconstruction of a common road that used to join the villages in the past.
