Project overview “A Escola numa Dimensão Europeia” The Secondary School José Saramago-Mafra develops a strategic plan that aims to modernize, update and capitalize its human and material resources in order to ensure adequate educational and training response and quality to all young people and adults in the country, with special emphasis to their comprehensive training, in order to provide the tools (knowledge, skills and abilities) that enable them to act as autonomous and responsible citizens, integrating an increasingly European and globalizing society. Despite good practices, particularly evident on school results and the numerous projects that complement curricular activities and aim for the integral formation of students, it is considered that there are aspects that should be improved, particularly the updating of teaching skills in different curriculum subjects, innovative digital skills in the educational context and the organization level of school educational services. Thus, this KA1 project School Teaching Staff Mobility, lasting two years, will allow the updating of skills of teaching, reinforcing the use of ICT in different curriculum subjects and projects, innovating procedures and practices in schools, contributing to improve the performance of teachers and educational achievement of young students and adults. Project objectives The following objectives that fall within the School Educational Project and the City Educational Project are meant to be achieved: • to develop interpersonal and intercultural skills to enable an effective and constructive participation in the educational community; • to develop different and innovative approaches in education, in general and in the classroom context, in particular; • to share personal experiences and good practices; • to provide personal, cultural and professional enrichment; • to improve knowledge of the education systems of several European countries; • to train participants to make better use of innovative technologies in educational context in order to capitalize existing resources in the school and to promote student motivation, reducing early school leaving and consequently increasing the academic success of students; • to improving language and communication skills; • to contribute for an innovative teaching approach, both at a technological and linguistic level; • to improve the quality of the services in different areas provided by the school. Profile of participants: The 26 participants, both teachers from different subjects and connected to the School Board, presented proposals for training activities, taking into account their personal training needs with the needs of the School. Activities: The key activities taking place in different European countries consist of training in structured courses and participation in a conference about school organization in a European context. Methodology: For the preparation of activities and their implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project, meetings, which are of the School responsibility, will be held with participants. For those interested, language preparation training in English and / or in French will be provided. After the mobility, participants will apply the knowledge gained in their practices, both in the classroom and in school context, and analyze their impact in the educational achievement of students and the organizational performance of the school. For dissemination of innovative educational practices, school resources and local media will be used. So that a larger number of teachers can access the training products in the European context, short articles will be published, dissemination will be made in scientific and teachers' associations, in different teacher meetings and replication of the courses for teachers of Mafra schools municipality will be made by short accredited training actions. Long-term benefits: This project will be an asset to the school, since it will allow the participants, to improve their interpersonal, intercultural, linguistic, technological, didactic and pedagogical skills, on the one hand, and on the other, to share with the educational community, contributing to the overall improvement of the quality of educational services provided, in order to reduce early school leaving and thereby increase the academic success of students and adult learners. The project will contribute to the organizational development of the school and with the network of contacts to be established with other schools across Europe, it is expected to have further European cooperation through existing projects and eTwinning activities and possible strategic partnerships of the Erasmus+ KA2 Program will evolve and take place.
