Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Oct 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Teen pregnancy vulnerable to complications (undesired situations which may occur) is an important problem. In protective care services, practices for birth control and prevention of pregnancy should be made in addition to the education for the prevention of early marriage. Whether marital or extramarital, teen pregnancy shouldn?t be evaluated as a stigma, a shame and family and society support should be provided. If the pregnancy is to continue, support programs for physical and emotional problems should be developed. After birth, convenient social, educational and mental environments should be provided for both the mother and the child, orientation of mother to the process of pregnancy and optimum care of the baby should be provided. Pregnancy may be a result of rape or incest. In this case Social Services Directorate, Legal institutions, Mental Health and Diseases Specialist should be contacted. The family should be given appropriate education not to crumple and affect the teen in negative way. The teen should be supported to deal with emotions such as quilt, regret, blame. After he crisis period is over, problems that may be encountered in long term should be discussed with the teen and the family, convenient social, academic and economic conditions for the mother and the child should be searched. Our aim is to lay the foundation for Professional implementation with the experience gained in EU level. The general purpose of our project is ensuring the upbringing of nurses and EMTs (Emergency Medical Technician) who will be able to plan and execute health care systems benefiting from modern information and technologies, who have universal occupational knowledge and skills, who recognize the conditions of our country and facts about health, who know the needs and priorities of the society and who are equipped with ethical values. Our most important aims in the Project are; preventing teen pregnancy, good care in pregnancy, birth and after birth and early stage determination of risks that may occur, taking necessary precautions and preventing mother/baby fatalities. As pregnancy and birth complications in teen pregnancies are encountered more often, they are evaluated as high risk pregnancies and the care in pregnancy and birth and after birth requires special knowledge-skills. However, it is know that in our country the issue of teen pregnancy is not cared for enough and it is tried to be closed quietly. There is no branching out in this area in our country and no different education is received. An infrastructure was constituted via the realization of the project and education certificates received from host institutions for branching out in teen nursing, the number of employable individuals was increased and the strategy of gaining qualified personnel to our country was served. 30 participant students between 16-18 ages from our institution and common local institution, the nursing departments of Anatolian Health Occupational High Schools (AHOHS) were included in our project. Nursing and EMT department students are appointed in any area of institutions/organizations of health or regarding health during and after their 4-year education and training. Nursing department students receive occupational classes after 9th grade such as disease-specific care, society/mental/female/child health, first aid etc. Within the scope of community service they provide health education and service (diet, first aid, blood sugar/TA measurement etc.) in the school and schools in neighbourhood. They do internship in work places for 3 days/24 hours in a week in 11th and 12th grade. In preparation, conclusion and dissemination stages of the project, a council was constituted for project management from attendant teachers of every school. All correspondences and communication were realized by this council and all project activities were organized in a similar way. In this direction, preparation activities were realized before flows, 2 flows were realized in Germany and Czech Republic, study programs determined in project application form were implemented during flows. Thanks to our project, our participants have learned the care applications especially for teen pregnancy in Europe and gained the skill to compare those with the applications in our country. Besides, they developed health service providing skill with their European colleagues. And they will become competent educators for mother?s embracing her child and family?s embracing the mother and supporting her after birth. They have become competent to provide best care in teen pregnancies, improve mother and baby health, contribute to the prevention of mother and infant fatalities. This project has contributed to them to become the leaders of branching out in the area of teen pregnancy. Thanks to this acquisitions, participants have become employable.
