John Soldatos holds a Phd in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2000) and is currently Associate Professor at the Athens Information Technology (2006-present) and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, UK (2014-present). He was also Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University (2007-2010 ). Since 2014 he is a member of the European Crowdfunding Stakeholders Forum (ECSF), and since 2012 is the coordinator of the working group group "IGT identification, naming and discovery" of the European Internet-of-Things Research Cluster (IERC).
Dr. Soldatos has played a leading role in the successful delivery of more than fifty (50) (commercial-industrial, research and consulting) projects, for both private & public sector organizations, incl. some complex integrated projects. He has had a leading role in attracting more than 15 million Euro (15 M€) funding & grants in the scope of  competitive procedures towards funding more than forty (40) innovative R&D projects and business plans in the fields of information technology and healthcare. he is co-founder of the open source platforms OpenIoT () and AspireRFID (). He has published more than 150 articles in international journals, books and conference proceedings. He has also significant academic teaching experience, along with experience in executive education and corporate training.
