Topic Description

Specific Challenge:

The aim of the project is to develop novel methodologies for assessing overspeed capabilities of new disc alloys. This will involve new rig designs and test capability as well as development of advanced correlations to enable transferability to component designs. This would consist of 3 main work-streams: 1.Design of a small spin test for hoop burst overspeed testing, 2.Commissioning of test rig and proof of concept tests and 3.Analysis of rig tests and development of the overspeed correlation.
