Guidelines

The Erasmus+ Programme Guide is available on-line. This guide presents the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMD) and explains the rules and conditions for setting-up an application for this action.

The main changes compared to the 2016 call for proposals are summarised in the "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) available in the section "How to apply" and are the following:

  • Eligible proposals will be assessed against all award criteria in a "one-step" evaluation process.
  • Only projects that have passed the minimum threshold of at least 75% (30 points) under the award criterion "Relevance of the project" and obtain a total of at least 70 points for all award criteria will be assessed against the additional criterion for targeted regions.
  • The evaluation of the additional award criterion for additional scholarships for targeted regions of the world ("Heading 4" & "EDF") has been simplified and its pertinence will be assessed on a "Yes/No" basis.
  • Additional scholarships ("Heading 4") are available for the eight targeted regions: Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood countries, South Africa, Gulf Countries, Asia, Central Asia and Latin America. In addition, the "EDF" funds are available for additional scholarships for the Africa-Caribbean-Pacific countries.
  • In order to be considered for funding, projects must have scored least 75% (30 points) under the award criterion "Relevance of the project" and obtain a total of at least 70 points for all award criteria.

How to apply

Organisations wishing to apply for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees in the field of Higher Education are invited to submit applications online to the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in Brussels.

The document "Instructions for completing the Application Package" is intended to help applicants for EMJMD projects to find information they need to complete and submit their applications.

  •  (will be provided soon)

In addition "Frequently Asked Questions" are available in order to assist applicants in preparing their proposals.

  • FAQs:  (will be provided soon)

For practical details on "How to prepare a competitive EMJMD proposal" you can also consult the following presentation:

Before starting your application:

  1. Read the call for proposals / Erasmus+ Programme Guide / Instructions for completing the Application Package carefully.
  2. Applicants must have an ECAS (European Commission Authentication Service) account. If you already have an ECAS account, you may use it; otherwise click here to create an ECAS account. When you have created your ECAS account, return to this page.

You are now ready to start the application process:

  1. The applicant and all partner organisations must be registered in the Participant Portal. Organisations that register in the Portal receive a Participant Identification Code (PIC) that will be requested in the electronic application form. To access the Participants' portal, you will need your ECAS username and password.

Given that each applicant organisation should use only one PIC code, please first check with your legal representative's office whether such a PIC number has already been created for your organisation. For your convenience the Erasmus charter holder's list provides you with the corresponding PICs of HEIs from the Erasmus+ Programme Countries.

If you already have a PIC, you may use it to create your electronic application form. Please also note that at application stage the PIC status can be either "Validated", "Declared" or "Sleeping". In case of double reference for one and the same organisation, the "Validated" PIC should always be considered.

  2. Create your official electronic application form, also called the eForm. Use the official application package and the correct application eForm for the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees action (please refer to the eForm and Annexes navigation tabs on the left).

Eforms

The KA1 - Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees 2017 eForm will be available as from 13/12/2016. For information, the Agency has posted a static version of the EMJMD eForm so that applicants can familiarise themselves with its structure and content.

For practical details on how to use the Participant Portal and subsequently create your eForm, please consult the following presentation.

Completing your application

  1. Fill in the eForm with the required data.
  2. Do not forget also to complete and attach the four (4) mandatory attachments to the eForm. For that, please refer to the Annexesnavigation tab to download the relevant templates.

If you apply for additional scholarships for targeted regions of the world ("Heading 4" & "EDF"), you must indicate that in the eForm under C.6 and attach the annex: "Award Criterion for additional scholarships for targeted regions of the world".

  1. Furthermore, if considered relevant for the proposal, the optional attachment: "Other relevant annexes" should be attached as well.
  2. Once you have completed the eForm and attached the annexes, validatethe eForm. This triggers an automatic check that informs you if your application package is complete. If this is the case, you can submit it online.
  3. When you have submitted your application online, the applicant organisation should receive a confirmation email and reference number. If not, please contact the HelpDesk.

Please DO NOT SEND A COPY of the e-form and the attached documents neither by email nor by post to EACEA.

The eForm and its user guide are available here (will be uploaded soon)

Applicants may wish to send for information purposes a copy of their EMJMD application to their International Erasmus+ Contact point (ICPs) set up in the National Agencies of the Programme Countries.

Please note that the Executive Agency will send certain information related to your EMJMD application (e.g. application number/title, HEIs/countries involved, etc., including proofs of valid accreditations attached to the eForm) to the International Erasmus+ Contact points of the HEIs of Programmes Countries involved. This serves for facilitating certain administrative procedures concerning the eligibility check of the application, especially related to accreditation.
