Contract description

The regions of East Africa and of continental Southeast Asia face notable loss of their natural forests. In 2013 the European Union launched the ReCaREDD project that aims at:

1. strengthening existing institutions and networks in the tropical regions in their capacity to report on their mitigation actions in the forest sector in the context of REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation in developing countries);

2. supporting regional forest observatories;

3. providing transparent and consistent information of forest-cover evolution to policy makers to use in their policy and strategy development.

In the context of item 2 (‘supporting regional observatories’) it is intended to launch a service contract(s) for establishing ‘pilot’ regional forest observatories in East Africa and continental Southeast Asia, respectively.

The contract has 2 Lots:

Lot 1: Service contract to support the establishment of a regional forest observatory in East Africa, including the countries of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Mozambique.

Lot 2: Service contract to support the establishment of a regional forest observatory in continental Southeast Asia, including the countries of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

Indicative budget

The total estimated budget for each Lot over the duration of each contract is as follows:

• LOT 1 – 450,000 Euros

• LOT 2 – 450,000 Euros.
