Structural Analysis using FEM

In engineering modelisation and simulation is established as an important tool in the development process. It provides a wide range of information concerning the physical characteristics of the developed technical parts. Any technical part has to function in its technical environment and is embedded in a system.
Technical simulation is the only tool which enables the engineer to gain insight in the complex system behaviour at a very early stage of the development process.
Heron is using both tools in order to establish the necessary characteristics and conditions for the development of a structure.

We do modelised structures - using Finite Element Methods - and we perform structural stress analysis in order to ensure that a structure will fulfill its intended function in a given loads environment. It is important to anticipate all the possible failure modes and design against them.
Through the structural analysis we guide the design of the structure and the sizing of the components and we provide a high degree of confidence. Since the analysis is an integral part of the design process, we do help to minimize design effort and time by eliminating redesign caused by failure during structural verification testing or later. In order to fully benefit of the performed analyses we determine design sensitivities and we conduct different scenario's studies and effectively we optimize the structure by enhancing reliability while reducing cost and weight.

Some of the analysis we perform are (list not exhaustive) :

Structural Analysis : Static and Non Linear Static, Buckling and Modal Analysis, Vibration, Non Linear (material, deformation)

Optimisation : Topology optimization, Weight optimization

Test Results Interpretation : Interpretation of the results, Correlation between simulation and test results, Validation of the simulation process

Documentation : Stress reports of analysis and studies are delivered together with the results to the clients, Certification reports, Non-conformities and their conformity reports, Structural repair manuals (SRM)
