Energiaklub was established in 1990 as an environmental association in Hungary. By now it has become a leading “think and do” organization in the field of sustainable energy. Its work concentrates on climate and energy policy by addressing energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, climate mitigation and adaptation, conventional energy sources, as well as good governance in these fields.
Energiaklub conducts research activities, develops local and regional Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) and climate strategies, provides training courses/counselling, and carries out communication campaigns with the aim to make policy-makers, municipality decision-makers, energy producers or consumers regard energy in a different way.
Experts of Energiaklub has been delegated to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP) by the Hungarian NGOs for many years, and as such has tremendous experience on international climate negotiations. Energiaklub was the Hungarian counterpart of CAN-Europe, and is the main contact point in Hungary on climate and energy related issues for many Brussels based environmental NGOs. It undertakes its work independently from political parties and business interests with credibility, transparency and professionalism.
ENERGIAKLUB is a professional partner in international projects, participated in numerous cooperation programmes, provides socio-economic and policy research, awareness-raising and communication activities in programs such as H2020, IEE, CE, FP7, EURATOM, INTERREG, South-East Programme. Its main fields of expertise are energy efficiency, energy policy, energy and climate strategies, climate adaptation. Energiaklub has direct and active relationship with energy users/consumers, energy service providers, policy-makers, municipalities through its programs throughout Hungary.
