Facilitating to Learn, Learning to Facilitate

The project "Facilitating to Learn, Learning to Facilitate" is a training course hosted by Contextos, lasting 9 days (including traveling days) and that will take place in January 2020 in Faro, Algarve, Portugal.

We plan to apply for funding under the Erasmus+ program, Key Action 1, for the deadline of April 2019.

Learning is a lifelong process happening in many ways, places, situations and young people are becoming more and more aware of that fact. This learning and developing process could be enriched and enhanced by youth workers. For this reason with the training “Facilitating to Learn, Learning to Facilitate” we aim at developing facilitation competencies of youth workers with the goal of organizing and implementing non-formal education activities of high quality for youth on a local, national and international level.

The specific objectives of the training are:
1) Acquire & gain a basic understanding of the concept of facilitation and different aspects of the facilitation process;
2) Develop and enrich facilitation competencies in working with non-formal education;
3) Experiment different group facilitation methods and empower facilitators in implementing quality training activities using participatory methods;
4) Share and exchange participatory methods, tools, and good practices in order to improve teamwork and group creativity;
5) Provide resources and tools about facilitation (books, manuals, );
6) Share experiences regarding facilitation;
7) Raise awareness about the process of group dynamics;
8) Practice the facilitation competencies gained during the course;
9)Promote cooperation between the different partners after the TC.

Target Group: The training course will gather 30 participants - youth leaders, youth workers, trainers with some basic experience in non-formal learning and who are willing to develop further their competences as facilitators of young people’s learning and development.

Methods: The project will use non-formal education approach and methods and it will be based on active participation balancing theoretical input with practical tasks.

Working language of the activities – English

Travel costs - Reimburse of the travel tickets will be done according to the rules of the Erasmus+ programme based on distance calculation and at the receipt of original documents.

All participants will receive Youthpass upon successful completion of the training.
