Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project background: Staatliche Realschule Eltmann, a secondary school leading to intermediate qualification, is a relatively small school with about 600 pupils and 45 teachers. School development is pursued in four developmental fields. 1. Social interaction 2. General education 3. Encouragement of skills in the fine arts 4. Autonomous learning In this application aims 2 and 4 above all shall have priority and shall be improved. Project aims: The basic idea is to improve the quality of the school through the development of education and to start a process of improvement through job shadowing as well as specific advanced staff training, to strengthen the European dimension of the school, to minimize the rate of school dropouts and to prepare our pupils for the European job market. Number and profiles of the participants: The assignment of the individual participants shall be clarified by the school development team. Each participant has profound teaching skills in his or her field and is regarded as qualified above average as a teacher concerning this profile. All participants form a kind of “chain-reacting mass” to immediately integrate the competences gained through this project in their teaching and to spread them in all educational processes at our school through in-house advanced teacher training. Description of activities: Advanced teacher training measures rate particularly high. Due to the redevelopment operations currently taking place at our school, special stress is put on further teacher training concerning the application of new media. Our teachers’ foreign language competences are also supposed to be promoted in Great Britain in order to enable them to prepare our pupils for the European job market. Furthermore the individual educational support of our pupils is intended to be addressed and improved in Italy/Florence and the Netherlands. The teacher taking part in a job shadowing project in Finland is meant to obtain an insight into the Finnish school system. Procedure to execute the project: The school administration will coordinate the whole project in close cooperation with the respective project partners. It will supervise the participants’ preparation as well as the evaluation and propagation of the project results. Intended results and long-term benefits: Through the analysis of other school concepts, new media and open ways of teaching the delegated participants are meant to achieve a self-conscious approach to their own ways of working and to share it with their colleagues. The contacts that will be established are supposed to lead to a lasting networking of the school, and thus to key action 2, and to promote the European dimension of the school. After the accomplishment of the project, the various results will be collected by the school development team and passed on to the colleagues by means of an in-house advanced teacher training course. The results will also be published on the school website and in the local daily newspapers.
