Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The one-year project aims to improve the storyline concept related abilities of our teachers who teach English as a foreign language to special needs pupils. We are especially aiming to get to know how the storyline concept can be used with respect to pupils with all kinds of learning difficulties within our special school and in the inclusive classroom as well. We are planning to send Mr. Zimmermann to Strathclyde University in Glasgow for participation in the one week in-service teacher training course "Storyline working towards inclusion". With this participation we intend that Mr. Zimmermann can consolidate and extend his knowledge concerning the storyline concept. In the next school year he will pass on his knowledge obtained within the framework of different internal conferences to our colleagues and to the colleagues at a cooperating school. He will let his colleagues sit in on his own classes. The colleagues will also be made available the received materials. Part of Mr. Zimmermanns assignment is his occupation at the IQSH (Institute for Quality Development of Schools in Schleswig Holstein). As a teacher trainer he holds seminars in the field of teaching English as a foreign language to pupils with special needs. Mr. Zimmermann will be responsible for the practical and logistical aspects of the project. Our school will support him in any insurance matters required by law. With respect to a lifelong learning we expect a long-term improvement of our teaching quality in the language classes by integrating this method in our language classes and in our school internal curriculum. In particular we need motivating concepts which help to put key words as differentiation, cooperative learning and supporting the individual learning process into practice in our English classrooms. We expect, that by applying the storyline concept on a wider basis, our pupils will be encouraged to participate more actively in their English lessons. In addition we expect that Mr. Zimmermann will be offered an intensive language training provided by excellent authentic English language speakers. We are always interested in any further exchange or European foreign language projects together with colleagues from other countries.
