Parler et échanger en Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

School Saint-Laurent wants to develop International. From the nursery school to the primary school, all the classes spend time to teach differents langages. Every year, school organizes a day of Europe in May. This day is about langages and some countries, so all the pupils can participate whatever the age. To become a reality for Europe opening, two teachers planed to exchange with an European class, with the same level. Knowing that they need help in English, they decided to have training courses. The training has been chosen to improve their English and to be more efficient English teachers. It was in Ireland, specially in Galway, during two weeks. The center was "the Galway Cultural Institute". English lessons were in the morning for students with the same level. Groups were established with differents countries (Korea, Mexico, Spain, Germany...), differents ages and jobs. Courses and immersion allowed greater fluency and authentic cultural knowledge. To be in contact wtith students of different origin and to live in an Irish family helped the teachers to use better the englih language. So they could communicate in real situation. Regarding the methodology, groups were made with primary teachers from France, which can be a drawback. They hoped use new tools , specially Etwinning, but not. They were not satisfied by the methodology courses. New teaching methods were limited. However cultural knowledges were interesting. The teachers in demand of mobility tried to find a class with the same level to establish a correspondence. it was not a success! Despite their request, they didn't find correspondents. It seems that english schools don't want to exchange with french schools. Not to demotivate pupils, teachers organized english exchanges with a french class from another area. Even if pupils were not English, they communicated in real situation. French teachers are still enjoyed in this plan. They asked for a new mobility in order to use better E-twinning, to improve their English and to find european partners which could have the same objectives. They think that immersion and authentic exchanges are the best way to bring up real european citizens.
