La Mobilité un Outil D'Enrichissement des Compétences
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Circumstances : The Chevalier d'Eon is a public secondary school which offers both general and vocational schooling, from the French Baccalauréat général (equivalent to A levels) to BTS ATI (equivalent to an engineering assistant HND) and also Baccalauréat Professionnel Gestion Administration (management and administration). The school is located in a rural area, which tends to hinder cultural opportunities. One of the goals of the school board is developing international exposure -such as discovering anglophone cultures- as a means to our student achievement. Work placement in a company in an English-speaking country by the end of the curriculum would be a valuable asset to the students and bring added value to their training. Goals: - Working abroad will enable the course participants to improve their English and to achieve more flexibility, thus meeting the needs of companies while increasing their own chances to gain employment. - The Europass CV will also bring added value to the curriculum, including access to higher education if the students were to continue with their studies. Number of participants and profile: 6 students from Terminale Baccalauréat Professionnel Gestion Administration (Management and Administration), 16 years old or more, selected according to: - their hard work and motivation to spend three weeks abroad in a professional context in an English-speaking country. - their seriousness, commitment and attendance in their current schooling. Description of activities: With the assistance of our partner -the association “Destination Mobilités”- candidates will be hosted by local families and integrated in the administrative departments of English-speaking companies for the three weeks of their internship to allow them to graduate with a European mention on their diploma. Method: Training starts beforehand with intensive English classes and professional communication classes in English implemented in the European section class of the Baccalauréat Professionnel GA from the beginning of the curriculum and then, during the first term of the final year, with additional courses in order to acquire more vocabulary and assess levels on the European online platform. During placement: Supervision (monitoring and assessment) by a professional within an Englishspeaking company in order to allow the trainee to acquire and develop professional abilities and knowledge; assessment by the teachers in charge of the curriculum occurs during the final week of work placement. Expected results and impact on the trainees: - improving their English. - getting accustomed to the culture of an English-speaking country. - gaining self-confidence and the flexibility required to adapt to a different and globalized economy. - gaining valuable assets which will meet the needs of companies (improved CV) and therefore improving their value on the job market. - increasing chances to pass the final exam Bac Pro GA while getting the added value of the “European section” mention on the diploma. - using the online tools available on the web platform (CV Europass) to emphasize the experience acquired during work placement in a British company. - incentive to follow-up with higher education (European BTS/HND). Expected results and impact on the school and future students: - Bring value to the Baccalauréat Professionnel GA vocational curriculum with the European aspect of the diploma. - Increase the visibility and appeal of a school located in a rural area. - Making the opportunity to get experience abroad appealing to students experiencing difficulties both with their studies and socially. - Facilitating access to higher education. Potential benefits and impact of the project in the long run: - providing a school located in a rural area with a strong European aspect, therefore facilitating the mobility of its students while increasing the visibility and appeal of the city of Tonnerre. - incentive for other schools (on a regional scale or even nationwide) to implement European mobility projects. - being involved in creating European sections and bringing value to them while offering the students opportunities to become mobile. - renewing each year a mobility project aimed at our students to contribute to their academic and professional achievement.
