L'alimentation en Europe
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Through this project, our school group would like to engage its 520 students in the acquisition of the European citizenship. The goal was to open them up to different cultures but also to develop their language skills. For teachers, the challenge was to enrich teaching practices while increasing the quality of education through better language proficiency. It was finally given a truly European dimension to the school by involving natural partners (parents, town, village residents) to an ambitious project. The main theme was centered on culinary project to provide an additional cultural dimension. Of the 20 teachers of the school group, everyone was already involved in English teaching. This project final goal was to aim to create consistency in English teaching and achieve common practices. 12 teachers benefited from mobility. Three of them teach in kindergarten and nine in elementary schools covering all grades (from CP to CM2). As part of this project, numerous linked activities have highlighted the school year including: Exploitation of the Anglo-Saxon calendar festivals particularly with the manufacture of pumpkin pies during Halloween for the youngest and pancakes for the oldest along with a pancake race. The participation of 7 classes of 3rd cycle to a language challenge organized to an academic level throughout the entire school year. The organization of two immersion field trips in English for all CM2 pupils (discovery class led by native-speakers with all activities in English) « English school day » associating the school itself but also curricular partners (canteen and CLAE), the parents and the municipality in which all pupils have participated in linguistic and cultural activities. Organization of an English meal in partnership with the municipality for the school's students, teachers, of that scholar group, the pupils’ parents, city hall staff, extracurricular services. Organization of an exhibition of student’s work, with projection of photos and videos of the year, open to different school users, the exhibition then transferred to the municipal library to the attention of all the villagers. The following results and impacts were observed: Impulsion of the enthusiasm and dynamism generated by these trainings within whole the team. Teachers who have not participated in mobility were invested in the actions. One of them decided to present himself for the habilitation and has obtained it. Sharing new gained skills and experience (especially culturally) leading to renewed practices in all classes of the school. Strong increase in number of actions around this project and ambitious events bringing together a large number of pupils: actions per cycle, action in the elementary ground, actions inter / school (kindergarten and elementary). Enlargement of the affected public with the involvement of the different adults and partners: parents, after-school animators, canteen staff, local councils… Enthusiasm of the pupils who were involved in their apprenticeship but also in the organization of various events (game making, poster making, culinary creations ...) Improved levels and increase self-confidence of the teachers during the English sessions. Level improvement of our learners with an acquisition rate of 88.73% for A1 for CM2 grades. Expected long-term benefits: Continued Involvements of teachers that were expected to strengthen student skills. Expected impact of the involvement of the kindergarten in terms of linguistic acquisition. Enlargement of the experience to other schools of the department (2 are already Candidate)
