Project Step by Step towards Effective Teaching at Primary School with Small Classes is a two-year project focused on teachers´ professional development in the organization that consists of the primary school and the preschool. The main aim is to achieve better efficiency of the primary school and preschool education provided by the local school and to raise the teaching quality throughout the teachers´ participation in educational courses abroad. The school is planning the improvement of provided education on the pedagogical and methodology field - it focuses on healthy lifestyle and physical education, using ICT during lessons and teaching foreign languages. Additional aims are motivating teachers to develop their professional skills by participating in courses for teachers abroad, introducing new teaching methods used at other European schools, working out the effective school development strategy in all areas. Thanks to taking part in courses teachers will contribute to the sustainable language teaching quality, foreign language teaching will be enriched by innovative approaches and methods. Teachers will improve their knowledge, their ability to communicate with partners abroad, they will be well prepared for international project work, they will be able to use different ICT tools. The goal of the project is to implement new technologies and thoughts, but at the same time to stay close to the nature - to formulate the school development strategy that would assure the children to be taught and brought up in a challenging environment in accordance to the nature. The number of participants responds to the number of teachers employed in the organization - all teachers will be involved into mobilities. They are seven together - some of them work at preschool and as well at primary school, they have two part-time jobs. The headteacher is the only one who has mobility experiences. She will guarantee the quality of the project implementation. Teachers will participate in five activities. There will be also some preparatory activities - English courses lead by the headteacher, collaborating via eTwinning, sharing ideas, tips and teaching materials with other teachers. The first activity (A1) - the course on healthy school and healthy lifestyle supported at schools in Finland - will motivate teachers to lead healthy life, it will help teachers to build up the team, it will support teachers with new teaching materials suitable for their lessons. All seven teachers will participate in the course. They will practise their English knowledge, they will get familiar with the educational system in Finland and its strategies. They will be given the tips on implementing new ideas into the school curriculum. The second activity (A2) - the course devoted to the educational system in Finland - is developping the first activity. It is designed for school management. The headteacher will participate in study visits at Finnish schools. She will take part in seminars on Finnish school curriculum that could be the lead for planning the school development strategy. Two other activities (A3, A4) - English language and methodology courses - will help four teachers who are not specialized in English teaching to get more familiar with English teaching methods at preschool and at primary school. Two teachers will take part in the course for preschool teachers, two will choose the course for primary school teachers. They will practise communication skills, learn new teaching methods and forms used in contemporary language teaching to children. The last activity (A5) is the course specialized in using tablets and mobile technology during lessons outside the school building, in nature. The teacher will learn how to use tablets and mobiles during lessons and in everyday life, how to use mobile e-learning and how to put it into practice. The teacher will get to know how to work with QR codes and how to edit videos. She will enrich her knowledge about ICT and practise her new skills at school as a school ICT coordinator. Thanks to the communication with other European teachers she will gain a better knowledge about the development and usage of ICT in different European countries. After each activity there will be an evaluation meeting, teachers will share their new knowledge and experiences, the project diary will be written. The project will raise the efficiency of education provided by the small local school. It will raise its prosperity. Teachers will be better prepared for international cooperation, for international school partnerships and common project work. The school is small, but it is the part of Europe, its priority is to be active on the field of the national education as well as the international education. The cooperation with other institutions from different European countries will help the school to follow the latest trends in education.
