Diversity in the classroom
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Diversity in the classroom BG/BRG /WMS Contiweg is part of a school pilot project including various aspects, such as teamteaching, diversity managment in the classroom and various project work in order to meet the needs of our different learners (students from 10 to 18, from various backgrounds). Our main objectives are developing new teaching methods in order to support pupils in the acquisition of competences in a diverse classroom and encourage their personal development as well as their intercultural awareness. We are a total of 4 participants in the project. Two have their focus on new methods of foreign language learning and attend teacher training courses in Great Britain. The other two participants put their emphasis on job shadowing and visit a partner school in Germany in order to develop new teaching methods and structures in the diverse classroom. The outcome we expect of the project is: - the implementation of the state of the art theories and teaching practices resulting in more effective teaching at our school - gaining new inspiration and different perspectives of teaching English - raising of intercultural awareness and appreciation of attitudes and cultures of other European cultures - improvement of teachers' English language skills as well as their knowledge of British and other European Education Systems - implementation of new supporting structures for the diverse classroom - improvement of the learning environment in our school - dissemination of newly gained methods Long term benefits for our school will be reached by establishing the newly gained competences and knowledge in our school. This project will lead to an improved learning environment and it will enrich our school development process and support our aspiration to fulfil the needs of our pupils in the diverse classroom.
