Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Among the objectives of sustainable development, the United Nations also included reducing the number of deaths and accidents on the roads by half by 2020. Among young people aged between 15 and 29 years, traffic accidents are the number one cause for deaths (Source: WHO Global status report on road safety 2015). Partners, working in the field of road safety and disability as the result of traffic accidents, have recognize the need to inform and raise awareness among youth with preventive content, workshops and campaigns, which emphasize the importance of safe driving, highlighting the key factors for traffic accidents (speed, alcohol, mobile phone, peer pressure ... ) and the possible serious consequences (disability, death), and the need for integration and sharing of knowledge between organizations that operate in the field of traffic safety and education of youth workers. This has prompted us to the creation of the project Connecting for youth road safety which involves 15 youth workers from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Begium.Between 11 and 15 October 2016 in Celje, with contact making seminar Connecting for youth road safety we will connect and exchange experiences of organizations and youth workers that work in the field of road safety (disabled - traffic accident victims and other youth workers). We will exchange knowledge in workshops, exchange best practices and experiences of participants and partners. The seminar will present opportunities for the integration of people with disabilities - victims of traffic accidents in preventive activities and thus opportunities for faster rehabilitation and social integration of people with fewer opportunities and to promote equality. With cooperation between non disabled and disabled participants we will encourage equality and brake the taboo of disability. At the seminar we will develop and strengthen the skills of youth workers also with lectures of experts from field of psychology of youth, methods of preventive work and effective ways of delivering content to youth. The participants will us the acquired knowledge in workshops aimed at developing projects for future cooperation in the field of youth road safety and education projects aimed at youth workers, as well as the potential for future upgrade of project Connecting for youth road safety in Erasmus +.With the development of preventive programs of organizations and enhanced, gained competences of youth workers, will young people, among which are traffic accidents the number one cause of deaths, informed and aware of the importance of safe driving, the key factors for traffic accidents and the possible serious consequences of traffic accidents (death , disability), with the aim of reducing deaths among young people, and reducing serious injuries as a result of traffic accidents.
