About Me

WASTE has been active at first as informal group, since 2015.

In 2017 we incorporated in a no-profit organization active in the field of social innovation and creative business; our main aim it is to face responsible waste management through creative entrepreneurship and disruptive innovation.

WASTE is lately focusing on textile waste and plastic free sensitization campaigns mainly at local level.

The organization has more actually 20 members and 4 active members dealing with the three main projects we are bringing on at the moment.

  1. Social Tailoring Laboratory - This project has as final aim to educate, form and inform about upcycling and reuse dynamics connected with clothes and accessories. The Lab. Organizes courses as well as information sessions; it is active to repair and to upcycle clothes and accessories and it employs NEETS, women victims of violence and migrants.

  1. Swap Space - This project has as final aim to extend the end of life of clothes and accessories. The space it is opened to all organization members and to all the ones willing to access the space becoming part of the association. They can come and swap clothes; the space it is opened 4 days per week and we select, wash and prepare the clothes to be exchanged.

  1. Air Guru - WASTE has also an incubation programme. Air Guru it is the second project WASTE is supporting; Air Guru wants to become a fashion tech brand; what we want to do it is to combine technology and fashion to face societal and environmental challenges. First Air Guru prototype is a filtrating accessory supporting citizens in defending their respiratory systems from SMOG and pollution.

We have active one traineeship projects for deaf and blind people, also, in collaboration with a bigger local institution (CESM - Centro Europeo per Gli Studi Manageriali)

We also have active a convention to host high school students as volunteers for our activities, within a regional programme allowing us to host these students so to have support to develop our activities.

WASTE supported also the start-up of other two projects that after a short-term incubation period, brought on their activities autonomously: they stayed as informal group activities. MO - handmade in Italy - an handicraft project combining fashion and traditional tailoring attitudes. WWD Vintage Clothing - a second hand vintage clothing project for men.

WASTE it is also member of a local network for sustainability; our main action within the network have been connected with bitches cleaning; the plastic we will harvest form local bitches will be composed in an artistic installation to be places in one public square of our municipality.

Within the network WASTE it is also trying to create and handbook for sustainability for restaurants, pubs and hotels. Another project that will develop during this new year will be the bioplastic project: WASTE in collaboration with a local network of shops/traders will introduce the concept of plastic substitution in preparation of the 2021 EU plastic ban.
