FACCE-JPI and FACCE SURPLUS pre-announce the upcoming call for joint research projects. The indicative available budget amounts to 6M€. The call is expected to open on 09.01.2019 with a closing date for pre-proposals on 19.03.2019.

The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) brings together 22 countries that are committed to building an integrated European Research Area addressing the interconnected challenges of sustainable agriculture, food security and impacts of climate change.

In the frame of the ERA-NET Cofund FACCE SURPLUS (Sustainable and Resilient agriculture for food and non-food systems), the partner organisations listed in the table hereunder will launch a call for proposals.

Aim and scope of the call

The present call for proposals aims to improve collaboration and cooperation across the European Research Area in the area of sustainable intensification of food and non-food biomass production and transformation systems, including biorefinery concepts.

It aims at supporting innovation, value creation and sustainable intensification of biomass production, taking into account the required economic, environmental and social conditions and resilience to climate change. In the call options will be explored which utilise all the biomass from agricultural land, uncultivated land and forestry with a holistic view with regards to food and non-food systems.

In line with the previous calls it is expected that the projects will build upon the research already conducted in FACCE SURPLUS and under the broader umbrella of FACCE-JPI.

Eligibility

The call invites proposals for collaborative research and development of transnational consortia of research organisations and companies from at least 2 countries participating in the call. The duration of proposed projects may be up to 36 months. National eligibility rules, including the potential eligibility of the private sector, e.g. SMEs, must be followed and will be published together with the call text on this website. Non-eligible partners may join at their own expense.

Application procedures & Evaluation criteria

The submission of the proposal occurs online via a submission website (to be opened). A partnering tool will be available. In a two-stage submission process, at first the planned work is presented as a pre-proposal which will be checked for eligibility. Successful consortia at pre-proposal stage will be invited to submit a full proposal which will be evaluated by independent experts.
